The T-10 paratrooper parachute

The T-10 paratrooper parachute was standardized as a military troop parachute by the U.S. government in the early 1950s. Renowned for its long-term reliability, it has seen consistent performance with relatively few modifications over decades. Evolved through models (T-10B, T-10C, T-10D), it remains a staple for troop deployment, with iterative upgrades enhancing safety, usability, and adaptability.

Key Upgrades & Improvements

· 1976 (T-10B): Added an anti-inversion skirt net (old part NSN11-1-1501) to enhance reliability; many active-duty canopies were retrofitted with this net.

· 1986 (T-10C): Upgraded from T-10B with:

· Extended bag strap free length (4 inches → 7.5 inches) and reduced bag depth (5 inches → 4.25 inches), lowering opening shock, reducing descent rate, and enabling "softer" landings.

· All active-duty T-10B canopies were upgraded to the new bag strap length.

· 2006 (T-10C):

· Material color updated to U.S. Army Foliage Green #504.

· Pack assembly (P/N 62J4342) revised with static line storage bars for 15-foot 5-inch yellow static line.

· Static line secured via breakaway strap (or directly to main strap if omitted).

· 2000 (T-10D): Introduced detachable deployment bag with:

· Universal static line (15-foot or 20-foot with 5-foot extension) for deployment from various aircraft.

· Adjustable chest, back, and leg straps (30 inches long) with permanently attached male canopy release fitting.
