The T191 Emergency Recovery Parachute System

The T191 Emergency Recovery Parachute System is a specialized safety solution engineered for eVTOLs, low-altitude multirotors, and other aerial platforms. Its core strength lies in a mechanically activated rocket deployment system, ensuring rapid, reliable parachute deployment during critical emergencies—from power failures and flight malfunctions to structural issues. Designed for manual activation, it puts pilots in direct control, addressing the unique challenges of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) operations, where low-altitude failures leave minimal time for corrective action. By significantly reducing descent speed, it minimizes impact forces, safeguarding passengers, crew, and equipment during landing. Lightweight, compact, and customizable, it sets a benchmark for emergency recovery in urban and low-altitude aerial missions.

1. Core Design & Operation

  • Rocket Deployment System: A mechanically activated rocket ensures fast, forceful parachute ejection, critical for low-altitude emergencies where every second counts.
  • Manual Activation: Pilots retain direct control to trigger deployment, ensuring responsiveness to unforeseen failures (e.g., engine shutdown, structural compromise).
  • eVTOL Optimization: Tailored to vertical takeoff/landing dynamics, where low-altitude stalls or malfunctions demand immediate recovery—its rapid deployment (3–4s) and controlled descent mitigate crash risks.

2. Key Features & Advantages

  • Rapid Response: Fast inflation and deployment times (3–4s under hovering conditions) minimize altitude loss in emergencies.
  • Gentle Descent: Low stable descent rates (≤7–7.5 m/s) reduce impact to levels equivalent to a 2.5–2.9m fall, protecting occupants and equipment.
  • Compact & Lightweight: Small form factors (e.g., 30x25x15cm soft pack for T191-350) and manageable total weights (9.8–15kg) avoid compromising platform performance.
  • Robust Reliability: High inflation success rates, low opening overload (≤6g), and strong stability ensure consistent performance in critical scenarios.
  • Extreme Durability: Operates in -40°C to +60°C, with a 12-year service life and 6-year maintenance intervals, ensuring long-term readiness.

3. Model-Specific Specifications

Each T191 model is tailored to different platform weights, with shared core features (manual activation, rocket deployment) and targeted parameters:

  • T191-350: Supports a maximum deployment weight of 350kg, with a total system weight of 9.8kg. Deployment time under hovering conditions is 3s, and the minimum deployment altitude is 60m. It has a maximum descent rate of ≤7 m/s and a main canopy area of 92㎡.
  • T191-500: Handles up to 500kg, with a total system weight of 11.5kg. Deployment time under hovering is 3s, minimum deployment altitude is 60m, maximum descent rate is ≤7.5 m/s, and main canopy area is 110㎡.
  • T191-650: Accommodates 650kg, with a total system weight of 13.8kg. Deployment time under hovering is 4s, minimum deployment altitude is 70m, maximum descent rate is ≤7.5 m/s, and main canopy area is 140㎡.
  • T191-800: Supports up to 800kg, with a total system weight of 15kg. Deployment time under hovering is 4s, minimum deployment altitude is 80m, maximum descent rate is ≤7.5 m/s, and main canopy area is 175㎡.

All models share key parameters: maximum deployment speed of 110 km/h, maximum deployment load of 6g, rocket motor burn duration of 1±0.1s, and manual activation.

4. Ideal Applications

  • eVTOLs (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft)
  • Low-altitude multirotor drones
  • Urban air mobility (UAM) platforms
  • Commercial or passenger-carrying aerial vehicles requiring emergency recovery systems
